Applicants immigrating to the United States as a lawful permanent resident, must pay the $165 USCIS Immigrant Fee online. USCIS uses this fee to process the immigrant visa packet and to manufacture the Permanent Resident Card (commonly known as a Green Card).
This fee is required of all applicants unless they meet one of the exemptions below:
1. Children who enter the United States under the orphan or Hague adoption programs;
2. Iraqi and Afghan special immigrants;
3. Returning lawful permanent residents (SB-1s); and
4. K nonimmigrants.
The immigrant visa process is lengthy and complicated as it requires dealing with three U.S. agencies, USCIS, the National Visa Center and Department of State Consulate General offices. A missing document or piece of information can delay a case by several months.
To minimize delay and to maximize the chances of being reunited with your beloved family member, call Ontario Immigration Attorney Ted Huang. His office is in Rancho Cucamonga and he serves the surrounding Fontana, Claremont, Upland communities as well as the entire Inland Empire region.
